Manny Pangilinan - Best CEO in the Philippines 2012 - photo: AFP/Getty Images He ranked first among the list of the top CEOs in the Philippines during the 12th annual poll of Asia’s top companies by FinanceAsia, a prominent publication in Asia. Pangilinan is concurrently the President and CEO of electric power distribution company Meralco and chairman and CEO of mining company Philex Mining Corp. He likewise serves as chairman of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT). PLDT was known to be the most valuable company in the Philippines. According to the Philippines Stock Exchange website, it had the biggest market cap of PhP528.04 billion as of June 8, 2012. The rank was followed by SM Investments Corporation as the second largest market-cap company. Pangilinan earned most of the tallied votes from investors and analysts throughout Asia and ranked first in the survey in the Best CEO category among the Philippine companies. PLDT also led in other categories in the poll among investors and analysts, including Most Committed to a Strong Dividend Policy, for the 4th consecutive year. For the 5th consecutive year, PLDT has compensated dividends equal to 100% of its core earnings, which enhances investors’ confidence of the company being one of the most liquid companies in the Philippines. PLDT also maintained its lead in the Best Investor Relations category due to its unwavering commitment to shareholders and investors, bringing in most of the votes among nine(9) of the Philippines' top companies for the 4th consecutive year.
